ISO 9001:2015 contains the requirements for implementing a quality management system.
Anyone planning to get ISO 9001 certified needs to buy a copy of this standard and have it available (your auditor may verify this as well).
In addition to the requirements for the quality management system, the ISO 9001:2015 standard contains an introduction on the process approach and PDCA cycle, as well as explanations and definitions of the vocabulary used.
Note that the national standards bodies of some countries use a slightly modified title (though the content doesn't differ in any way).
For example, ISO 9001:2015 is also known as ASQ/ANSI/ISO 9001:2015 (USA), DIN EN ISO 9001 (Germany), CAN/CSA-ISO 9001:16 (Canada) and BS EN ISO 9001:2015 (UK).
The following related ISO standards are part of the ISO 9000 family.
While ISO 9001 is at the core of this family, the purpose of these related ISO standards is to clarify the meaning of ISO 9001 or expand upon its requirements.
It is not possible to gain certification to any of these related standards.

This optional ISO standard describes the fundamental concepts and principles of a quality management system and defines and explains the vocabulary used.
ISO 9000:2015 may be used to gain a better understanding of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Quality of an organization – Guidance to achieve sustained success
ISO 9004 expands upon the requirements of ISO 9001 in order to provide additional benefits to the organization and related parties.
ISO 9004 is an optional add-on to ISO 9001.
If you are implementing ISO 9001, you are only required to own the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
Purchasing any of the other ISO standards on this page is optional.
These related standards may, however, support your implementation or, as in the case of ISO 9004, add value by expanding your quality management system.
Due to copyright reasons, we aren't able to include ISO standards with our products.
However, we have partnered with ANSI (the American National Standards Institute) and BSI (the British Standards Institution) to make the needed standard(s) available to you.
You can choose to buy the ISO standard in PDF format for instant download or as hardcopy.
Note that both ANSI and BSI offer attractive discounts for members.
